About the Book
The Story of Catlantis is a children's picture book inspired by a very special cat friend of mine. She passed away in the spring of 2013, and I quickly wrote the tale of an adventure she might have had a thousand years ago in Constantinople. Catlantis is an expression of ideas about myth, adventure, music and ancient knowledge, framed as a story for young people. I was inspired by Plato's Timaeus, Attar's The Conference of the Birds, as well as an album by the Smashing Pumpkins called Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. I wanted to tell a story about a lost world where life was the way it was meant to be, but also about the power of music to dispel what frightens us. The Story of Catlantis is an ode to traditional storytelling and the nostalgia for times long before we were born. I'm presently seeking representation for publishing.
